Eagle In The Snow

Nikole says: “I wanted to create something quite masculine and the result was this eagle, almost ready to pounce. I wanted to really create a sense that he was focusing on something, almost as if ready to strike.”

This beautiful hand painted design shows an eagle stealthily standing on a snow covered pine tree. The pine tree specifically is part of a trio coined ‘the three friends of winter’ in Chinese culture. Along with plum and bamboo, these three trees are symbolic of endurance, longevity and resilience as they withstand the cold winter weather when many others trees and plants wither. Nikole captures the white powdery nature of snow wonderfully as it sits atop the pine tree branches; reminding us of the interesting enduring characteristics of this fascinating tree.
